SOARING temperatures saw a record number of runners turn out for the mayor of Enfield's fun run at Forty Hall, on Sunday.
Former Tottenham Hotspur player Mark Falco started the three kilometre race and the Mayor of Enfield, Cllr Eric Smythe, got the ten kilometre run off to a flying start.
A spokesman for Enfield Council said: 'Despite the hot weather, this year's mayor's charity fun run was a huge success attracting a record number of competitors.
'For those with time to admire the scenery, Forty Hall and Whitewebbs Parks provided a glorious background.'
Cllr Bambos Charalambous said: 'It was an enjoyable and well organised day out for all the family.
'Everyone had their own goal for the day and the cheering on the final climb was inspirational.'
First home in the shorter distance was Jonathan Gane in nine minutes, 34 seconds.
John Lindgren took the ten kilometre race in 34 minutes, 44 seconds with Teresa Scully becoming the first woman to cross the line in 41 minutes, 15 seconds.
