The war on crime was given a boost with the formation of a borough-wide Neighbourhood Watch Association last week.
A single umbrella group now links the 140 schemes to provide a forum for residents in efforts to improve public safety.
The association is run by representatives from the local schemes and membership is open to some residents associations.
At the group's inaugural meeting, Sylvie Chrzanowska of the National Neighbourhood Watch Association, welcomed the Kingston initiative.
Kingston's Chief Superintendent Peter Lally said: "We look forward to supporting the association."
