I HAVE lived in Enfield Lock for the last 14 years and all the time I have lived at the same address.

How is it that after all this time I am now told that I will have to start to buy bin bags?

Well, through the letters page I would like to challenge Enfield Council about whether in fact it is legal for the council to suddenly stop providing a service that tt has provided for at least the last 14 years.

Years ago I used to be a refuse collector for Camden Council. It had bag rounds which meant that it had to provide bags for all residents instead of emptying the dustbins.

It looks like the council has three options:

l the council empties everyone's dustbins on the scheduled day.

l it provides wheelie bins to every property, which, because of the time it takes to empty these bins less refuse would be collected in a day so it might cost the council more in manpower and certainly more in wheelie bins as none of us has these dreaded things at the moment.

l leave everything as it is and give us our bags back.

I for one will be leaving my refuse in a dustbin when the bags run out and if it is not collected I will be phoning the council refuse department to find out why.
