Great Ormond Street Hospital is set to become a brighter place, thanks to a Borehamwood artist.

A colourful painting, together with a cheque for £1,230, were presented to the famous children's hospital by staff at the Hart and Spool pub on Thursday.

As part of a fundraising weekend last month, Paul Griffith spent ten hours painting the huge picture in the Shenley Road pub where he is a regular. The picture depicts a selection of childhood images, such as a clown, a jack-in-the-box, a teddy and balloons.

Other sponsored events included a fancy dress party, an auction and a money-raising mohican haircut for assistant manager, Billy Delieu.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Mr Delieu, who has since paid a visit to the barber, said: "We had help from everybody in the pub. It's a good charity to collect for and the hospital was really pleased. They said it was fantastic and they loved the mural."
