Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival

THE name may have changed but the former IW Musical Competition Festival — re-branded as The Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival — is as busy and vibrant as ever.

The 84th annual festival began this morning (Monday) with the speech category at Ryde Methodist Church Hall.

Other categories include drama, music and dance.

The popular band day, which was cancelled last year because of snow, will return to Shanklin Theatre on March 19.

The festival runs between March 3 and 22.

Categories and Venues:

Vocal and choral music: March 4-9 — St John's, Newport; St Thomas Church, Newport; All Saints' Church, Ryde; Shanklin Theatre

Speech: March 3-5 — Methodist Church Gall, Garfield Road, Ryde.
