Isle of Wight music festivals among best value in Europe

Stevie Wonder, who is headlining this year's Bestival on the Isle of Wight.

MUSIC festivals on the Isle of Wight are not just among the best for music, a new study has found.

Bestival and the Isle of Wight Festival have finished second and third respectively in a value for money study by online offers website VoucherCodes.co.uk.

The study looked at the cost of a ticket compared with the price of seeing the top five acts each day separately.

T in the Park in Scotland topped the list, with a saving of £291.

Bestival, which starts on Thursday and is headlined by Stevie Wonder, New Order and Florence + The Machine, was second, with a saving of £262.

In third place was the Isle of Wight Festival, which was headlined by Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty.

Duncan Jennings, co-founder of VoucherCodes.co.uk said: "The Isle of Wight is known for being one of the UK’s live music hotspots, but this year it also cemented its position as the home of the country’s best value festivals.

"Our research shows that Bestival and the Isle of Wight Festival are two of Europe’s best value events and for music lovers who want to see the world’s top artists without breaking the bank, a trip across the Solent will be well worth the money."

David,
I have been an advocate for the ferry operators in the past when people have alleged that they had to pay really sill prices for tickets.
However, I needed to get to Lymington on Monday (10th) and all I could find were two sailings, one at 00.35 and the other at 04.30 and BOTH were £91 ONE WAY.
Now there is making hay while the sun shines and most businesses do that, but this is sheer profiteering.
Shame on you Wightlink.
Second point would be, do we also need Giddings either?
The place (Seaclose) is still a tip and what happened earlier this year was not only unforgivable, but it was amateurish.
Lets just have Bestival which is much better.

oh and the ferry prices increase when the Festival and Bestival are on as they are a major cash cow for all the ferry operators, to say a trip across the Solent will be well worth the money." well it costs nearly as much as the admission cost to cross the solent to see them

I bet the cost of the ferries cancel out the savings which I doubt were included in the calculations, what a load of old rubbish this report is
