DOZENS of runners from the Isle of Wight are preparing to take on the London Marathon tomorrow (Sunday).

Runners from across the Isle of Wight will run the 26.2 miles in aid of charities including Beaulieu Respite, Sophie Rolfe's KissyPuppy, the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and the Royal British Legion (RBL).

Temperatures in the capital are due to reach the high teens as 30,000 runners make their way around the city.

Among those taking part will be Kevin Winchcombe, principal licensing officer at the Isle of Wight Council.

Kevin, who is also the chairman of the Isle of Wight Road Runners, is running in aid of Beaulieu Respite, a Newport charity that supports families with children who have physical and health needs.

"I'm feeling quite cool about it and am looking forward to the unbelievable atmosphere," he said.

If you are taking part in the marathon and would like to be included in our coverage, please e-mail us by 5pm on Monday at editor@iwcp.co.uk

Good luck to all the runners today. Wish I could have done it but alas my health is so bad, I would collapse at 100 yards!
