AN Isle of Wight school was one of the victims of the latest global cyber attack, which has hit businesses and organisations this week.
Isle of Wight Council confirmed that at least one school had been affected by the attack, which is similar to one earlier last month, in which people were locked out of their data and told to pay a ransom to re-establish access.
The Isle of Wight Council emailed all schools to warn them of the development.
In their email, the council said the attack had led to considerable disruption, cost and data loss.
In a separate statement, a spokeswoman said the Isle of Wight Council was not the IT provider to schools and schools bought in their own IT contracts and should follow the advice given by their own providers.
