A SCHEME which targets noisy neighbours, has been shouted from the rooftops by the Chartered Institute of Housing.
The 24-hour noise line set up in Greenwich to combat nuisance neighbours, has been recognised as an innovative contribution to tackling anti-social behaviour. It has been detailed in the new magazine from the Chartered Institute of Housing called Neighbour Nuisance: New Initiatives.
Residents have a team of environment and tenancy protection officers who respond to complaints.
They also take referrals from housing officers, carry out investigations, and pursue legal action, including seizure of hi-fi equipment.
Where the noise does not amount to a statutory nuisance, staff will try to mediate or refer the parties to Greenwich Mediation Service.
