ALL are invited to celebrate The Spirit of Christmas with the Isle of Wight Society for the Blind (IWSB).

The charity will host an awards ceremony at Newport Minster on Monday (December 18) following its annual short story writing competition.

This year's theme was The Spirit of Christmas and the competition attracted 120 entries across three age categories.

Twenty-seven prizes will be presented on the evening, and there will be musical entertainment and a raffle.

Doors open at 5.30pm and the awards ceremony starts at 7pm.

IWSB marketing, communications and fundraising manager, Chris Cane, said: "We extend a warm welcome to writers, family, friends and supporters to enjoy a fabulous evening with musical entertainment by Ricky J and Emily Scotcher and special guest appearance by Edana Minghella on what will be a very festive and fun packed evening."

The winners will be interviewed on Vectis Radio and their stories recorded by three celebrities — Doctor Who actor Katy Manning, It Ain't Half Hot Mum star Melvyn Hayes and singer Edana Minghella.

The winning entry in the under 12 category will be published in the County Press, and all the winning stories online at www.iwsb.org.uk.
