WANDSWORTH BOROUGH 1ST 3 - FULHAM COMPTON 2.

The firsts have put together two fine battling performances in recent weeks a 5-4 and 4-3 in the cup last week, writes Glenn Sanger.

This may be due to the majority of the squad turning up 2 hours before kick off and practicing free kicks.

Boss Stuart Charlton named a similar team to last week Steve Mac at right back, John Hadfield left midfield and Matt Richardson on the Right of midfield and Glenn Sanger centre forward.

So Andy Hewitson with yet another striking partner, he informed me before kick off that I could be his Peter Beardsley for the afternoon as there were obvious similarities.

In only my third game as a forward in my football career I must apologise if I looked a little lost a times. However I did manage to see that Fulham scored two awful goals from our shoddy defending.

As soon as the second goal it seemed to give the Borough side a kick up the backside as we all started to raise our game and some good chances through Andy and Stu.

Matt was proving too much for their left back and combined with Glenn for the first goal as they played three or four one twos and Glenn (Beardsley) Sanger went through and tucked the ball away just before half time. Stern words from Stu at half time is what we all needed and it was what we all got.

We have the ability in this side so why does it only show when we are two nil down.

We stared far better in the second half and had several chances to level the game. Andy broke down the left and produced a fine save from the keeper, only for Stu to smash home the rebound, 2-2.

More pressure from us continued with Stu hitting the bar from a header from a Sanger cross. Defence looked far more in control this half with tough tackling displays from Dave and Spud who was nursing flu and had a stormer.

Pacy left winger Jonus Hadfield broke down the left a whipped in a looping cross, which fell neatly to the unmarked Andy (Lineker) Hewitson to place an angled header into the far corner 3-2. That was pretty much the last we saw of Andy as he had a graze on his knee and his mum wouldn't let him play anymore, so we brought big Paul Marshall on in attack 4 goals in four games.

HAHAHA I don't believe that, I shouldn't really mention what happened to Paul when he came on other than that he found himself one on one with the keeper. Well anyone who has seen that penalty when the player goes to take it and kicks the floor and falls over will know what Paul was up to on Saturday. One opposing player even commented that it was worth turning up just for that!

From then on in we just played out time and Fulham were becoming increasingly frustrated which involved one of their players getting booked along with Stuart Charlton.

Three wins on the spin for the First team and it looks like we have turned the corner. Team spirit is starting to grow again and there is passion for everyone to get involved. Unbeaten from now until the end of the season? I think we would settle for that.
