A middle-aged martial arts teacher has denied seducing one of his pupils when she was just 13.

Abdul Rahim, 40, of The Broadway, Hendon, taught the girl Tae-kwon-do at classes in Hendon, Kensington and Southall.

Now aged 17, the girl told Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday that she was not attracted physically to Rahim, who was separated from his wife. But she said a two-year relationship began when Rahim started driving her home from classes.

"I knew what was happening wasn't a normal relationship between a student and a teacher or a man and a woman," she said. "He was 37 and I was 13. I don't really know how me not liking him and finding him unattractive go on to having sex with him."

Prosecuting, Kim Halsall said Rahim charmed the girl's mother into allowing him to sleep over on the sofa and she even did his washing for him. Rahim told police that he had a sexual relationship with the girl's mother and always regarded the girl as a daughter.

But Miss Halsall said all this time Rahim was having sex with the girl in her mother's house, at his second home in Ladbroke Grove, and in halls after his classes had finished.

She said Rahim told the girl he wanted to have children with her and take her to India to meet his parents. He also hoarded photographs of her and mentioned her in his diary.

"Although in one sense she did not find him attractive, she did like the attention he was giving her," said Miss Halsall.

The sex allegedly continued even after the girl got a boyfriend her own age.

"Here was a man many years more senior to her, someone who knew her age and someone in a position of authority as her Tae-kwon-do instructor," she said.

"The prosecution say he took advantage of her...taking her innocence and her virginity." The trial continues.
