David Williams (letters, January 28), leader of Richmond Council, should be ashamed that he failed to identify with the views of the residents who put him in office.
He could put forward a plan that would win the wholehearted backing of residents.
The area from the service road to the embankment should be converted into a park similar to Radnor Gardens.
The service road should be widened to take the existing traffic running along the waterfront.
This would provide a pleasant area for residents and local workers, and make for a more attractive town.
There will be dissenters among developers and town hall bean-counters but it's the residents who should have the final say.
