The appointment of Jean Tigana as Fulham boss has inevitably led to rumours of an influx of French players moving to Craven Cottage.

Either man would represent a massive coup as Tigana aims to build a squad capable of fulfilling Mohammed Al-Fayed's demands.

Trezeguet, a current French international, is rated as one of the best strikers in Europe and has been linked with a move to AC Milan.

He is expected to leave Monaco this summer and although it seems fanciful to think he might move to the English First Division, French newspapers are the source of the rumours.

Weekend newspaper reports in this country suggested that Ginola, so often substituted during Spurs matches this season, could fancy a move across London.

But the former Newcastle wingman insists that he is still happy at White Hart Lane and, once again, he is unlikely to take a step down and play First Division football.

The problem of attracting top quality players shows why the demands on whoever is in charge to win promotion to the Premiership are so great.

And at the other end of the spectrum, it means Fulham remain vulnerable to losing some of their best players to Premiership teams.

One man who appears to be heading out of Craven Cottage is Lee Clark, with a host of Premiership clubs apparently interested in signing the cultured playmaker. It has been suggested that the former Newcastle and Sunderland player could complete the north east set by linking up with Bryan Robson at Middlesbrough.

Coventry City are another club believed to be interested in signing Clark.

With Scottish international midfielder Gary McAllister expected to leave Highfield Road at the end of the season when his contract expires, Clark would provide manager Gordon Strachan with an ideal replacement.
