Island Brewery’s Earls ale has retained its Isle of Wight CAMRA beer of the year title.

Earls, described as a rich dark ale, was crowned winner of the 2016 competition, repeating its success from last year.

Ryde's Goddards Brewery was runner-up with its Fuddle de dum, with the Island Brewery taking third and fourth for its Wight Christmas and Yachtsman's Ale beers.

Claire Bennett, the Island Brewery's export manager, said: "We are absolutely delighted all the hard work that goes into producing the beer has paid off with another win.

"We would also love to thank everyone who voted.

"Congratulations to Goddards too for running us close."
