THE Isle of Wight’s newest late-night bar and music venue opens its doors next Friday, December 14, with a weekend of free events.

The Loft, in Orchard Street, Newport, will be officially opened on Friday by The Wizard of Odd and a host of other top DJs, including JFB and Maxx Traxx, as well as the venue’s own resident DJs, Bit Bad Wolf, Tala Steppa and S.T. Irie.

Next Saturday, The Loft will launch its Bio Rhythm, a weekly night dedicated to house and electro music, played by Island DJs as well as regular visiting special guests.

Festival bar specialists The Really Good Bar Company is opening The Loft as a platform for Island promoters, bands and DJs to showcase their talents as well as providing a space for visiting bands and DJs to play.

Just what Newport needs in this time of austerity and triple-dip recession, another place for people to spend what money they have left not on ever increasing household bills, but on alcohol for even lomger into the night. I bet St Marys and the Police are really looking forward to the opening.
