It’s Acoustic Isle time

Simon Townshend is appearing at Acoustic Isle.

MORE THAN 100 live performances are now set to be included in next month’s Acoustic Isle.

Performances take place in a wide variety of pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants across the Isle of Wight with surprise guests and several top name acts rubbing shoulders and sharing stages with the Island’s own up-and-coming talented musicians.

Acoustic Isle, which runs from March 13 to 23, incorporates the Isle of Wight Festival Fringe.

Highlights include Joe Gladdis (Festival Fringe), Blacksheep Bar, on March 13; Simon Townshend, from The Who, at The Balcony, Ryde, on March 22; Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer and Jay Foreman, at Coburgs, on March 21 and The White Bicycles (Festival Fringe), Blacksheep Bar, on March 13.

Isle of Wight Festival promoter John Giddings said: "We had a great year at the festival last summer, with some fantastic talent across our three stages, so it’s fantastic to be working alongside Visit Isle of Wight on Acoustic Isle."

The tourism body’s chief executive David Thornton said: "We are obviously delighted this new initiative to attract more visitors to the Island outside the main season is being supported by the Isle of Wight Festival.

"Acoustic Isle is a fantastic opportunity to showcase both talented local artists and mainland musicians The Isle of Wight Festival has been crucial in growing the Island’s appeal over the years and we want to add to this now with our new music festival."
