THE ANNUAL Jack Frost Appeal has been launched to help Island people facing a cold winter.

Through its 'winter warmth' packages, the charity provides the Island's poorest households with portable heaters and help towards heating bills.

Chairman Jack Moore said: "Most of us take heating for granted, but for many Islanders the choice may be between heat or food.

"Some will end up physically or mentally ill due to being unable to heat even one room."

The cost of a winter warmth package is £150.

In addition to donations, individuals and businesses can show their support by organising a fundraiser or nominating the Jack Frost Appeal as their chosen charity this winter.

People can also donate their own winter fuel allowance if it's not needed.
