Brondesbury 129 Teddington 130-5

Grolsch Middlesex County League Division One

Defending champions Brondesbury got off to a disappointing start on Saturday with a five-wicket defeat at Teddington.

After a reasonable start, Brondesbury lost ten wickets for 96 runs and were all out for 129. Opener Richard Sherman (40) and Ricky Fay (30) were the only batsmen who showed the necessary application.

Star performers for Teddington were Middlesex pro Jamie Dalrymple with 4-23, and Aussie seamer Halbish (4-44).

Brondesbury had Teddington tottering at 53-4, but Dalrymple (38no) played the decisive innings to secure a five-wicket victory at 130-5 (Fay 3-33, off 16 overs).

On Sunday, Brondesbury outclassed their second division neighbours Hampstead for a 93-run win in the ECB National Cup.

Ian Kidd (57), Mike Hood (47) and Tommy Simpson (42 not out) were the main contributors out of Brondesbury's 252-5.

Tight bowling by skipper Rob Nelson and Mark Lowrey saw Hampstead crumble to 81-5 and end on 159-7 (Blake 33no).
