Jane keeps TV fame in family

Jane Summers, follows family tradition of success on TV.

A GRANNY has followed in her family’s footsteps by making her first TV appearance.

Jane Summers, 55, of Broadway, Sandown, starred in a commercial for online bingo operator, tombola.co.uk, which was screened during episodes of Emmerdale this week.

The commercial will be shown for the next 15 months as part of a sponsorship deal with ITV, and Jane follows her uncle and aunt, who appeared in a number of TV adverts, plus ITV show, Benidorm.

Her mum, Barbara Walter, also trained former Sandown High School pupil, singer and actress Laura Michelle Kelly.

"The family has a lot of history in showbusiness and television so when I saw tombola’s appeal for people to appear in its sponsorship bumpers, I thought, if they can do it, so can I," said Jane, who has two grandchildren.

Dawn Clayton, marketing manager for tombola.co.uk, said Jane, who appears in a field with sheep, was a natural in front of the camera.

"We had tremendous fun on set and for a complete beginner, Jane was a real star so perhaps there’s just something in the family gene," she said.
