THE Island's troubled Isle of Wight Jazz Festival has been cancelled for the second year running.
Organisers of the Ventnor-based event said problems with venue availability led to their decision to scrap this year's event, due to be held in April.
The 2009 festival was cancelled due to the recession, concerns about ticket sales and a lack of sponsors.
They said this year's event was halted due to the unavailability of the town council-run Winter Gardens and the Isle of Wight Council-run Salisbury Gardens.
In August last year, council leader Cllr David Pugh said there were still concerns about organisers' outstanding debts following a previous event.
Council chief executive Steve Beynon also wrote to the organisers to inform them the council would not allow them to use Salisbury Gardens.
Geri Ward, co-organiser of the festival, said they had informed artists and those with tickets of the cancellation and refunds would be given.
"We hope the festival can be run in the town again," she said.
