TOP comedian Jimmy Carr has been forced to cancel two shows on the Isle of Wight later this month due to increased television commitments.
The stand-up star, who fronts the TV comedy show, 8 Out of 10 Cats, was due to perform back-to-back shows at Shanklin Theatre on Saturday, August 26.
The sold out shows, part of The Best of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits Tour, have been rescheduled for Saturday, February 10 next year.
The announcement follows cancellations for other shows at the venue - Jasper Carrott, who is having heart by-pass surgery this month, is rescheduling his September 24 show for a date in March 2018, and Chas and Dave, after singer and pianist, Chas Hodges, was diagnosed with cancer.
The theatre's booking manager, Vic Farrow, said: "We've had to cancel various shows for all sorts of reasons this year, which is as disappointing for us, as it is for the fans.
"We had to individually contact 1,200 people who bought tickets for Jimmy Carr, but the tickets they bought are still valid for his two shows in February."
