POLICE have appealed for information to catch suspected joyriders, who stole a car and set fire to it over Christmas.
The car, a blue Ford Fiesta, was taken between Christmas night and the early hours of Boxing Day from St Paul’s Avenue, Shanklin.
It was found at 7am in Rosemary Lane, Ryde, where it had been dumped and set ablaze.
One of the men seen setting light to the abandoned vehicle is described as being of thin build and wearing a light-coloured top.
A police spokesman said: "The ground in the lane was very wet and there is a good chance the suspects would have arrived home with extremely muddy footwear."
Anyone who witnessed the incident can contact PC Russell Skinner at Ryde Police Station on 101. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111.
