CHAMPION fundraiser Karen Eeles — who lost her job at the Earl Mountbatten during a staff shake-up — has joined the team at Challenge and Adventure.
Karen worked at the hospice for 11 years and oversaw the growth of hospice events such as Walk the Wight and the Island Highland Games. Now she will spearhead new fundraising ideas at the small Parkhurst Forest-based charity, which uses outdoor activities to build the confidence of disadvantaged and challenging youngsters.
Project manager Gary Meek said: "We are really excited to have Karen on board. She is passionate about Island causes and we’ve seen what an amazing job she’s done at the hospice.
"With her wealth of experience, we are sure she can help to steer the charity’s fundraising activities in the right direction."
He added: "We hope the Island will continue to support the hospice, as we know how tough it is for charities right now and we really hope Karen will enjoy her new role with us."
Karen said: "Challenge and Adventure is a wonderful charity tackling some difficult issues within the Island’s youth. I’m really excited to be joining the team here and exploring new, exciting fundraising opportunities with them.
"I’m really grateful to everyone who’s supported me through what has been a difficult time and hope they will continue to support me in this new challenge."
