A 28-YEAR-OLD man and 19-year-old woman have been remanded in custody, by Isle of Wight magistrates, accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old boy.

Samuel Turner, of Oakfield, Ryde, and Aimee Michelle Light, of no fixed address, were both charged on December 9 with kidnapping and being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

They appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, December 10, and were remanded in custody to appear at the crown court on January 6.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a report of a kidnapping close to Sports Direct, near Newport Bus Station, between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Monday, November 25.

A boy aged 14 was allegedly assaulted and placed into a vehicle.

He did not need medical attention after the assault.

Investigating officer, DC Katy Lee said: "We are keen to talk to a man driving a blue vehicle who had spoken to the boy to see if he was ok at the time.

"If anyone saw or heard anything related to this incident please contact police on 101."

A police investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident, which they say is believed to be isolated and is not considered to be a risk to the wider public.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
