A CHINESE lantern is thought to have sparked a search operation on the Isle of Wight yesterday (Monday) evening.
Solent Coastguard alerted Cowes RNLI of a possible distress flare being spotted over the River Medina at 7.19pm.
The lifeboat was launched, but recalled.
