ENFIELD Town multi-storey car park has been hit by a spate of car theft.

Last week about ten cars were broken into, including three next to each other on Friday.

The three were discovered by motorist Donna Harris when she returned to her purple Renault Clio at about 1pm.

Her car and the two next to it had been broken into and items stolen. She had parked the car at 9am.

Ms Harris has called for tightened security in the car park.

'But there aren't even any security cameras in the car park. Something needs to be done quickly.'

A spokesman for Enfield Council, which manages the car park through a private contractor, said councillors were to meet police next week to discuss car park security.

The spokesman said figures showed the car park experiences about 100 thefts in a year.
