Licence to party at prom

YOUNGSTERS at Ryde School donned dinner jackets and posh frocks for their James Bond-themed end of year prom on Friday night.

Around 70 Year 11 pupils attended the event which was held at the school’s theatre with music provided by a band made-up of youngsters at the school.

Students voted on the pupil most likely to go into politics and the student most likely to get rich and famous. The titles were won by the Isle of Wight youth MP Jack Philipsborn and Marlee King, the daughter of Level 42s bassist, Mark King.

They also elected a prom king and queen for the evening. Holly Diggins was elected queen and identical twins, Richard and Robert Vaughan incredibly polled an equal number of votes before being elected as joint prom kings After the event, the students adjourned to a post ball party.

Head of Year 11, Martyn Glasbey, said: "It was a fantastic evening and they all had a good time."
