A TRIP across The Solent for lunch ended in drama for one couple, who ended up calling the Cowes RNLI when their yacht broke down.
The 29ft Naviga suffered engine failure at Bramble Bank as the Southampton couple, Roger and Penelope Nash, travelled from Hamble to meet their son for lunch at The Folly, on the River Medina.
They were unable to hoist the mainsail, and the headsail proved inadequate for their boat to fight against the tide. By the time the lifeboat reached the yacht it had drifted off Egypt Point, Cowes.
The crew of the Cowes RNLI Lifeboat towed the Naviga to Cowes Yacht Haven, where it was taken ashore to be repaired.
