BEMBRIDGE Lifeboat rescued three people off the Isle of Wight over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The RNLI vessel was called to aid two people who capsized their sailing dinghy, near St Helens Fort, on Saturday (25) at 12.08pm.
Lifeboat operations manager Mike Samuelson spotted the dinghy was in trouble from his office at Bembridge Harbour.
The dinghy’s boom and rudder were damaged when it capsized and a tender from Sea View Yacht Club met the lifeboat and took the crew and dinghy back to Seaview.
The lifeboat was called out again at 1.58pm yesterday (Monday) to transfer a casualty from a boat anchored off Seagrove Bay, Seaview, to the shore.
The captain of the Port Solent ketch, Flair, badly gashed his finger as he was attempting to raise the anchor.
The casualty was brought back to Bembridge lifeboat station, where he was met by ambulance and taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
