Lifeboat tows boat to safety

THE CREW of a speedboat that suffered engine failure off the Isle of Wight were assisted by Cowes RNLI yesterday (Sunday).

The 16ft boat, which had four men on board, developed the problem when it was half a mile off Cowes and drifting westwards.

The boat was towed to safety at Town Quay, Cowes.

Once ashore, the crew — who had been travelling from Southampton — were given sea safety advice by the mobile coastguard unit and Cowes Harbour Commission.
