Shenley JMI School pupils were at down at the village cricket centre recently, putting finishing touches to their work to create an attractive new entrance area.

The design work -- including a batsman in mid-swing, a red sign bearing the name of the centre, lighting and plants -- was begun by pupils from the London Road School last year.

Year 5 pupil Richard Cook designed the cricketing statue.

Young ideas became a reality thanks to cash from the Hertfordshire Environmental Arts Fund.
