London Mayor hopeful Jeffery Archer joined shoppers in North Finchley on Saturday morning to lend his support to the Conservative candidate Roy Treeby in today's Woodhouse by-election.

Lord Archer browsed at a book stall for one of his novels and found it amusing when the stall holder said he did not stock any.

He also chatted to people about the pedestrianisation of North Finchley and traffic problems in London as a whole.

Before leaving, the politico bought a pizza from a local bakery to eat on the way to his next official visit.
