MORE than £1,500 was raised by Watford kickboxers who filled the main hall at Parmiters School in Garston for a sponsored spar.
The event, entitled Fight For Life, was organised by Watford Freestyle Kickboxing Club.
Kickboxers of different levels and ages were invited to spar for a entire hour to raise funds for three-year-old Sanjae Lewis, who suffers from the rare, life-threatening condition, fibrosing alveolitis.
The condition causes scar tissue to build up on the lungs, which gradually erodes a sufferers ability to breathe.
Funds raised will go towards the £350,000 lung transplant Sanjae desperately needs to stay alive.
A key organiser and manager of the club, based at Leavesden Green Community Centre, Mr David Ryan said: "The day went really and most of the people who said they would take part, did.
"While this is only a small proportion of the total that needs to be raised in order to save Sanjae, every little helps."
