FORMER Mayor of Enfield Cllr George Savva received the royal seal of approval for his work in the borough when he received his MBE.
Cllr Savva was presented with the gong by Prince Charles at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
He said: "It was a wonderful and emotional experience and it was a privilege and also a thankyou to my family."
Cllr Savva was awarded the MBE for his services to the community and to Enfield.
He added: "It was an experience I will treasure and never forget but I would like to thank the people of Enfield -- I wouldn't have received it without them."
Cllr Savva was accompanied to the Palace on his big day by his wife Elli and sons Andreas (far left) and Tasos (far right).
