STAFF at Princes Risborough-based Leo Pharmaceuticals are thrilled after its IT department scooped the Information Technology Team of the Year award.

The award, presented at the recent 2001 Office Stars Awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Park Lane, was given for good technical skills and understanding company needs.

Response speeds and creative thinking from IT departments were also looked at by award organisers which included The Industrial Society.

An intensive judging procedure included a one-hour presentation by Leo IT manager Simon Warwick and to a panel of industry experts.

The judges came from all sectors of industry and commerce and included representatives from major companies, trade unions, voluntary bodies and public agencies.

Mr Warwick said: "This tremendous result reflects the hard work, commitment and skills of all the members of the team working together to provide an excellent working environment with all users.

"A successful company is made up of teams who creatively demonstrate professional excellence and integrity.

"All of these are qualities I am proud to say exist within our IT department."

The winning team, all local to Princes Risborough, included Steve Banfield, Tony Bradshaw, Paula Kennelly, Caroline Mayne, Maxine McGowan, Tim Morton, Ian Patterson and Chris Prior.
