Log on and help children

SHOPPERS on the Isle of Wight are being urged to log on to the internet to help raise funds for a good cause.

YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service has signed up with www.easyfundraising.org.uk — an innovative website, where thousands of people are raising money for charities every time they shop.

By using easy fundraising to access more than 2,000 well-known retailers, shoppers generate a free donation for the cause of their choice.

Donations can be as much as 15 per cent of the purchase price and YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service is hoping Isle of Wight people will log on and support them.

Kelly Burke, from YMCA Isle of Wight, is keen for as many people as possible to sign up.

He said: "In the current financial climate we know every penny counts, so we’re not asking people to donate, just to shop on-line as they normally would. Almost all of us shop on-line these days, so what could be easier than raising funds simply by making purchases you make anyway?"

Many retailers, including Argos, Tesco and Marks and Spencer, are included in the scheme.

As well as raising funds, the free-to-use website also gives shoppers access to hundreds of offers, discounts, vouchers and free delivery codes.
