THE former chief fire officer of the Isle of Wight has landed a senior role with London Fire Brigade.
Steve Apter led the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service for three years and was a firefighter for 25 years.
He was transferred to Hampshire's headquarters in Eastleigh when the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service entered a partnership with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority in April 2015.
Mr Apter was later seconded to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, and has now been appointed director of safety and assurance for London Fire Brigade.
He started work in his new role yesterday (Thursday).
