Lord Louis Library to house Isle of Wight libraries headquarters

Sunday, March 15, 2015 - 8:32

THE Lord Louis Library, Newport, will be reconfigured — and some books removed — to make way for the Isle of Wight library service headquarters, which is moving into the building next month.
The Isle of Wight Council will save £100,000 by relocating the headquarters and book repository from its current location at Somerton to the library.
The reference section will be merged into the main library and the children’s library will move back to its former location, where the reference section is currently located.
There will no longer be a dedicated computer room, the computers will instead be relocated throughout the library and the location of the newspapers and study table has yet to be decided.
According to plans available to view at the library: "Areas of book stock which are under-used will be removed from the selves and re-homed into the book repository.
"Many of the books in the reference library are no longer being used or updated as they have been superseded by online resources, both in the library and in the home. Some will be removed as they are outdated, others will be relocated in the library."
