Lorry comes off road

Isle of Wight police believe no-one was injured when this lorry came off the road, close to the Hare and Hounds.

UPDATED 18:07*

AN ARTICULATED lorry has come off the Downs Road today (Wednesday).

Police were called at 12:35pm to Mersley Down Road, near the Hare and Hounds junction.

The lorry is due to be recovered soon and no-one is believed to have been injured according to police.

The road, which was closed on Monday and Tuesday due to heavy snowfall, is now largely clear of snow and ice.

A police spokesman said shortly before 4pm that the vehicle was being recovered, however officers were assessing the area to make sure it was safe before re-opening the road.

*The road was re-opened by 5.50pm.
