Man arrested for robbery

A MAN has been arrested after an alleged shop robbery on the Isle of Wight.

Officers were called on Friday, at 9.50pm, to M&M Wardle newsagents in the High Street, Shanklin.

It was reported a man had entered the shop and stolen several cans of beer.

One member of staff saw the man holding a knife by his chest.

No one was attacked or injured.

A 27-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested later the same evening on suspicion of robbery.

He was questioned and bailed until September 23 pending further enquiries.
