POLICE gave more than a lift to a man who tried to hitch a ride with them on the Isle of Wight last night (Tuesday).
Isle of Wight police said the man had flagged them down for a lift, but the unwitting hitchhiker did not appear to realise he was the subject of an outstanding warrant and he was promptly arrested.
Officers did give him a lift however — to Newport Police station.
Male flagged us down tonight requesting a lift. Unfortunately he had an outstanding warrant so his lift took him to #Newport custody.
