A MAN was knocked down in a car accident in Lake this evening (Saturday).
The incident happened outside the Lake Fishbar fish and chip takeaway, on Sandown Road, at around 8.30pm.
Emergency services were called to the incident, with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service taking the casualty to St Mary's Hospital, Newport.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said the man had been taken to hospital this evening as a precaution.
The police had closed the road for about 40 minutes while the ambulance dealt with the casualty.
