Marketing group wound up

A MARKETING group established to promote the West Wight and its businesses has been wound up.

A decision to wind up the West Wight Marketing Group was taken at its AGM yesterday (Tuesday).

Committee member David Ballard said there were no nominations for the committee and the number of membership renewals was disappointing.

He added: "The assets are now in the custodianship of the retiring committee members who were present, Paul Heath and me, as required by the constitution.

"Former treasurer Derek Begent has agreed to monitor our decisions on behalf of the members. There is a commitment to maintain the paid-for website listings until the end of December 2014. This condition is to be honoured by any group that accepts transferred ownership of the website."

He invited groups with similar aims and objectives to contact group@westwight.com if they were interested in having the group name, logo, domain name, website content and approximately £2,000 of funds.

Registered supporters of the group included Albany Associates, several parish councils, Community Action Isle of Wight, Cycle Wight, Southern Vectis, UKSA and Visit Isle of Wight.
