Youngsters at Ecclesbourne Junior School have been busydesigning their own eco-friendly houses.

The idea was sparked by the on-going development of eleven energy-efficient homes near the school in Coldhabour Road.

Chairman of Croydon Council's education committee, Councillor Hugh Malyan, said: "The competition has helped to highlight the potential for designing energy efficient homes which save energy and reduce the cost of household bills - a valuable lesson for the children's future."

The winning designs, together with photos of their mini-architects, will be kept for future generations to see in special time capsules embedded in the school's new extension.
