Martin Bell, who is launching the election campaign for independent candidates on the Isle of Wight.

UNICEF ambassador and former BBC war correspondent and MP Martin Bell is to make a non-party political presentation at Newport’s Riverside Centre tonight (Monday).

Mr Bell, who is helping to launch the Isle of Wight council election campaign for independent candidates, will host a question and answer session about his career and his views on how an independent approach to politics can help deliver change and be more in tune with the community.

Mr Bell will also be visiting the Ventnor paddling pool, which has been taken over by the town council, the Frank James Hospital site, where volunteers have been restoring the grounds, and the Waterside Pool, now run by a community trust.

The Riverside Centre presentation, which is open to the public, starts at 6pm.

Steve he was the guest speaker on a cruise I was on. Fantastic bloke and as you say, we could do with a few more like him. During the cruise he gave quite a few talks and they were always well received.
