HUNDREDS of spectators, including a man riding a Penny Farthing bicycle, watched cricket teams from Cowes’ Island Sailing Club and the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble take part in their annual match at Bramble Bank yesterday evening (Wednesday).

Low spring tides exposed the bank for around three quarters of an hour allowing the match to take place while spectators enjoyed strawberries and cream and drinks supplied at a hastily erected bar.

The event was won by the Royal Southern Yacht Club.
