MBEs for Islanders

Anne Springman has been awared an MBE, one of two people on the Isle of Wight to receive the honour in the latest Queen's Birthday Honours.Picture by Robin Crossley.

TWO people from the Isle of Wight, including the owner of Shanklin Chine, have been recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Anne Springman and Cmdr David Hilton have been made Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), it was revealed today (Friday).

Former High Sheriff and long time supporter of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Mrs Springman, of Bembridge, received the honour for services to the Island community.

Meanwhile, base services manager Cmdr Hilton received his honour for services to the Royal Navy.
