MEDICAL professionals from the Isle of Wight are gearing up for this year’s Bupa Great South Run.

Dr Jac Tracey, of YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service, and a team of four nurses from the IW children’s community nursing team, Emma Woodfield, Becky Hepworth, Angela O’Hanlon and Amy Daly, have joined forces to take part in the event later this month.

The nurses will be raising money for Layla’s Trust, which seeks to provide support for bereaved families who have lost children, and to families who have disabled or terminally ill children, while Dr Tracey is running for YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service, which offers counselling and support to children and young people on the Isle of Wight who have experienced the death of someone close to them.

The ten-mile run takes place in Southsea, on October 28.

l Anyone wishing to take part in sponsorship can do so at www.justgiving.com/ymcagreatsouthrun2012 for YMCA and https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/beckyhepworth for Layla’s Trust.
