THE reward offered to catch the killer of slain New Cross florist Jaap Bornkamp has been doubled to £20,000.
Dutch national Mr Bornkamp, 52, died from a single stab wound to the chest while walking home from a New Cross Road nightclub at 7.15am, on June 4, last year.
He and a friend passed two men walking in the opposite direction, near the old Deptford town hall, when he collapsed. He was taken to hospital but died later that day.
The original Met reward of £10,000 for information has been boosted by cash from one of Mr Bornkamp's relatives.
During the past 14 months the police have conducted extensive enquiries.
Detective Inspector Roger North, of the serious crimes group south, said: “This is a substantial reward and we are hoping it will overcome any fears people have about talking to the police.” Call the incident room on 020 8217 6461 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
